03/31/08 Storm Chaser Summary

Scary Looking Clouds!

Sorry for the summary delay…got in to the motel about midnight last night and was exhausted and just got up and headed home as soon as I did.

SLC! (Scary Looking Clouds) That was the theme for Monday! Lots and lots of scary looking clouds which ended up being much of nothing in terms of tornadoes, despite the storm we were on being tornado warned for quite a while.

Myself and Steve Miller OK, Aaron and Hans headed south from Moore, OK for the southern part of OK near the Red River, where we felt things would be better for more discrete activity.

After a couple of restarts of which storm we wanted (there were MANY) we finally ended up on one east of Ardmore and followed it until nearly sunset somewhere east of Hugo. On the way back to Atoka to eat dinner, another cell back that way was tornado warned, but was very unimpressive visually for anything that remotely looked tornadic. We did manage to get under some shelter and watch a nice hail storm however!

Fun chase even though we didn’t get much to show for it out of the deal. I’ll post a more detailed chase report on the main website as time allows.

Also streamed the ChaseCam that day, as did Steve and again worked out very well. This is going to be a regular feature for this website every time I am chasing! Be sure and subscribe so you will get the updates as to when I will be out chasing and can watch the live ChaseCam.
