Contrary to popular folklore, it seems March did an about face this year and will be going out like a lion rather than a lamb this year. Fairly significant severe weather potential here for the last 2 days of March beginning today in Central North Texas in to western Oklahoma along the dryline, and then points northeast along a cold front. Another severe episode in the works for Monday, but more on that later.

Not much time for an in depth forecast but there is some concern that convection will not fire before dark. Given the area where the dryline is expected to be by late afternoon is already clear and heating up and dewpoints in the area are already in the mid 50s with 60s not far to the southeast, I think there is a fair chance of a cell or two popping up along the dryline, even south of the SPC outlook area in to Texas.  Overall parameters are favorable across the whole area for all modes of severe weather, including tornadoes.  Might be a more more significant tornado or two up along the front if something can get moving favorable to that before a lot of precip breaks out.

My current plan is heading out the door for Childress, TX here shortly, and re-evaluate from there. I may end up a little further north than that.   I’ll be running the new streaming LIVE Chase Cam today, probably about the time the CU field gets going good, so be sure to check in on that.  Never know what I might get in to! 🙂

I’ll try to do an update once I have reached the preliminary target area.  More later…
