This was my first attempt at shooting fireworks with a digital camera.  I had tried some with film back in 2000 with some limited beginner success, but knew I could do better now.  We located on the premises of the American Wind Power Center in Lubbock, TX, which is on a hill just across from McKenzie park where the main fireworks show would be and an excellent viewing spot, not to mention it's closed to the general public so you don't have to deal with the crowd while trying to do photography.

I wanted to try out my new Canon IS 55-250 lens, but had concerns that I needed a wider angle, and it turned out I did, but still got some great images with it.  Out of just over 100, here are my favorites of the bunch! I also posted a video of the fireworks show on my YouTube channel and embeded it here at the end of the photos!
