{"id":821,"date":"2009-12-24T03:00:13","date_gmt":"2009-12-24T08:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/daviddrummond.com\/blog\/?p=821"},"modified":"2009-12-25T10:00:02","modified_gmt":"2009-12-25T15:00:02","slug":"christmas-blizzard-of-2009","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/daviddrummond.com\/blog\/2009\/12\/24\/christmas-blizzard-of-2009\/","title":{"rendered":"Christmas Blizzard of 2009"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-822\" title=\"2009.blizzard.totals\" src=\"http:\/\/daviddrummond.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/2009.blizzard.totals.gif\" alt=\"2009.blizzard.totals\" width=\"516\" height=\"364\" srcset=\"http:\/\/daviddrummond.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/2009.blizzard.totals.gif 516w, http:\/\/daviddrummond.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/2009.blizzard.totals-300x211.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 516px) 100vw, 516px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A rare White Christmas has visited the plains for 2009!\u00a0 A blizzard started taking shape on the night of the 23rd, and by Christmas Eve morning blizzard conditions we starting to exit West Texas where as much as 7&#8243; was pretty widespread with some isolated amounts I saw myself (not in drifts either) up to 10&#8243;!<\/p>\n<p>This is only the 14th time since 1911 when records began being kept in Lubbock that we had a White Christmas Eve and only the 5th time in that same time period we have had a White Christmas, so despite all the travel problems for people on this holiday, it was quite a rare treat for West Texas.<\/p>\n<p>I of course stayed out and covered the duration of the event for the news!\u00a0\u00a0 I was out by 6 pm CST on the 23rd and didn&#8217;t get in a warm, cozy bed until about noon on Christmas Eve!<\/p>\n<p>I have uploaded a video to here for you to check out some of the scenes as conditions changed over from rain to snow and then to blizzard!\u00a0 I have to say, being I haven&#8217;t seen this much snow in a while, it was quite fun!<\/p>\n<p>Looks like another potential snow maker for us in the forecast for next week!<\/p>\n<p>Did you have a white Christmas?
