{"id":708,"date":"2009-05-12T13:01:21","date_gmt":"2009-05-12T18:01:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/daviddrummond.com\/blog\/?p=708"},"modified":"2009-05-12T13:02:13","modified_gmt":"2009-05-12T18:02:13","slug":"051209-chase-forecast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/daviddrummond.com\/blog\/2009\/05\/12\/051209-chase-forecast\/","title":{"rendered":"05\/12\/09 Chase Forecast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/daviddrummond.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/051209day1probotlk_1630_torn.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-709\" title=\"051209day1probotlk_1630_torn\" src=\"http:\/\/daviddrummond.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/051209day1probotlk_1630_torn.gif\" alt=\"051209day1probotlk_1630_torn\" width=\"582\" height=\"408\" srcset=\"http:\/\/daviddrummond.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/051209day1probotlk_1630_torn.gif 582w, http:\/\/daviddrummond.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/051209day1probotlk_1630_torn-299x210.gif 299w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 582px) 100vw, 582px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Just when I was about to give up on the 2009 chase season, things have taken an about phase and it now appears I may be chasing for the next 4 days!<\/p>\n<p>Today holds potential practically in my backyard and another chance to chase for the TV station.\u00a0 A nice dryline shaping up this afternoon and excellent clearing underway right now.\u00a0 Both RUC and\u00a0 NAM indicate some iteration of a dryline punch coming out in the Lubbock area.\u00a0 NAM is not as pronounced.\u00a0 CAPE stacking up on the nose of that to the northeast of Lubbock.<\/p>\n<p>The one thing I don&#8217;t like is that strong cap.\u00a0 I have a feeling though it will bust in a couple of places and supercells should quickly result.\u00a0 There may be some sort of a pseudo triple point in the area north or Lubbock where differential heating is occurring with the cloud cover to the north that should set up a decent baroclinic boundary that could act as a warm front and enhance low level rotation in any storms in that area.<\/p>\n<p>As such, my target is on the nose of whatever punch results today (right now I am seeing evidence of it on the West Texas Mesonet observations coming into the south plains southwest of Lubbock).\u00a0 I&#8217;ll be heading to Lubbock, but I am thinking a better target might be Plainview, and as always, will adjust as necessary.<\/p>\n<p>As usual, I will be live streaming the chase today on the\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/daviddrummond.com\/live-chasecam.html\">LIVE ChaseCam<\/a>!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just when I was about to give up on the 2009 chase season, things have taken an about phase and it now appears I may be chasing for the next 4 days!
