  • Hurricane Ike On the Road Update 8

What an incredible day yesterday was. I have shot hundreds of images and hours of video, some of which is some of the best stuff I have ever shot. We were quite busy all day, so much going on and we were running around all over the place documenting things. Most buildings outside the seawall were destroyed, while most everything inside the seawall did pretty well, aside from some flooding, they still stand.

There was an incredible apartment complex fire that gutted many units, the firefighters could not put it out. I’ll have many images and video clips to share in the near future.

We made it all the way back to the Austin area, the closest place we could find a motel room, we called dozens of places. This will be my final video blog update as well to finish out that series.

  • Hurricane Ike On the Road Update 7

No time for a video blog this morning as we need to get out on the road ASAP. We’re loading the chase vehicle back up right now as light it is getting light enough to see. We can see some pretty significant destruction along the seawall. Debris everywhere. We’ll be streaming video as we have cell signal still from the mainland, although it is very low. All phone networks lost cell signal here about the time the second phase of the hurricane hit, and we all lost internet about the same time.

It’s going to be a long day.
