Ended up on a cell west of Roswell, NM and chased it all the way back to Lubbock, TX! Wow, what a long day! Was certainly the day of the wall clouds, although I did get a nice little funnel cloud (see it in the occluding mesocyclone behind the rain wrapping RFD).
The pic below was a wall cloud getting ripped apart by outflow/RFD interactions. The cloud would rip apart into pieces of scud and spin around this way and that way. Was one of the most complex interactions I ever witnessed. I can’t even describe it. It was way wicked though!
Finished up my day letting the storm roll over me as it was decreasing in intensity west of Levelland in a hellaceous hurricane like core, except with golf ball hail in it. Grabbed a burger in Levelland after taking a tour of the massive street flooding there and headed home. I am exhausted, so the forecast for tomorrow, which looks great BTW, will have to wait until morning. For now, crashing out to the sounds of the thundershower outside my window.
