  • 05/01/09 Storm Chase Forecast

    050109chaseforecast

Classic triple point localized tornado outbreak in store for the Red River Valley area in northwest Texas.  We are already in the area and will be streaming live video later this afternoon.

Ample moisture, moderate to extreme instability and enough cap to hold things off until peak heating, and sufficient wind sheer for rotating storm should be sufficient to ensure a few supercells across the region.  Tornadoes being a thread, also of significant note is extreme hail size of baseballs or larger which could be incredibly damaging for any towns in the path.

Residents of northwest Texas need to keep a close eye on the weather for today.  Once storms start forming, they should rapidly become severe with tornado/hail threats within an hour or so of initiation!

  • 04/29/09 Tornado Images and more video!

A few still images from the videos from the tornadofest on the 29th.  After we have been going over video this evening in the motel, we have counted a total of 5 tornadoes.
