As I mentioned before, I’ve had issues with hail breaking my plastic front grills. After this last storm, which smashed them up pretty good, I decided to take my first steps toward some hail guards. Who knows, I might do something like this over all the vulnerable parts of the vehicle. Sounds like a fall/winter project.
Here is what it looked like before, after the storm. Sorry it’s so dirty, with all of the sandstorms lately I haven’t really had a decent day to wash it:
Here was the test fit of the new one before painting.
And here is the final product after painting and installing them:
I’m probably biased, but I think they actually look better than the factory ones. One thing is for sure, I won’t have any hail penetrating those. They are made from stretched steel! Thus my underlying expensive a/c condensor will be safe.

WOW! Those actually DO look better than factory! Great idea!
Nicely done…..but won’t those enhance your lightning potential? 😉 j/k Those do look better though. Needs more lightbars. LOL!!
Very smart looking. But what about the rest of the vehicle? Is it true you might be changing your handle to WX5TIV? (chortle) “16 tons and what do you get?” answer: David’s chase vehicle!
Well, protecting the more hail sensitive areas is one thing. I have no desire to own one of those clown cars.
…….. and quite right too. I saw that show on Discovery channel. Embarrassing.
Yes, it looks a lot better after the upgrade David! Nice work…
I have to agree with you….they new ones look much better than the factory! Smart thinking! Can’t wait to see what you do with the rest of the vehicle.
Very nice sir. No point replacing with expensive factory when all they are going to do again is break!!!!

Well I glad you guys approve! Depending on how much I have on my plate this winter I might see about armoring more of the chase vehicle like that. No turning back now. *insert evil chuckles*
