I am happy to announce that I will now be working with TornadoVideos.net (TVN) for video streaming, some media licensing,  and other storm chasing related projects.  Dryline Media (my dba) just signed the deal with them today.

This came after about a month of intense consideration on my part.  Despite other offers out there, some of which are run by friends of mine, in the end I had to separate my friendship status from my business dealings and make a sound decision based on that alone.  After careful considerations of the contracts by both myself and attorney, and making sure they meshed well with existing contracts, I made the final decision today, and frankly I am excited about it.

You readers that aren’t involved in the social aspects of storm chasing will recognize TVN from the Discovery Channel show Storm Chasers.  I feel partnering with them will be beneficial to myself and them (I am always a fan of win/win situations) as well as potentially bring many more opportunities down the road.

I know some of my friends that will be reading this that are going to be streaming video with another service will not be happy with this.  Please understand that I am still me, and I am still the same guy you knew last month, and also understand that I have considered all sides in all of this, and in the end I had to put all personal feelings and friendships aside and make a business decision.  This was not a decision I took lightly by no means.  In fact, I have thought over this extensively for about a month now.

I hope that my decision will not negatively affect any friendships I already have.   I understand everything I’ve heard from both sides, I know where everyone is coming from.   In the end, everyone has to make their own decisions and should do so based on their own information and not anything anyone else tries to get you to do for their reasons.  Do what you feel is best for you. Their reasons are just that, their reasons.  Sign up with who you want to for your reasons alone.

I hope in the end when the dust settles all the controversy can be gone and we can all have fun storm chasing again, and still sit down at the end of the day for that steak without anyone feeling like they are sleeping with the enemy. :)

For everyone else…

I’ll be posting more shortly about the new live streaming that I will be doing this year!

AMEN David. I will be making my own business decision here shortly on what to do, most likely taking the same route. At the end of the day, I don’t think it matters who we’re streaming with or what we’re doing. We all have a passion for weather, and I hope everyone understands that!

Will be making the same announcement sooner rather than later. Good work DD.

  3. As a friend, it doesn’t make me NOT happy. What works well for you is what you should go with. As you’ve said on several occassion, if somebody wants to put gas in my tank and pay my expenses to chase, then they can have a say in what I do. :-)

Can’t we all just get along? [sings kumbaya]

Good for you man. Im so sick of the TVN vs CTV drama. Spotter chat is a disgusting place filled with soap opera bickering and i hardly even go in there anymore. Each streaming site offers something difference and people should be free to choose the one they think will work best for them…

  6. Awwww Ben! As long as you don’t try and give me a bear hug from behind. I mean, I want to feel the love, but not in that way. ROFL ;-)

LOL Steve, good point man. None of that! ;)

I think the goal here now is to get a TVN, SS and CTV streamer in the same car together. I wonder who will be the first to do that? :)

Congratulations David. I hope it all works well for you.

Now, if only the weather would co-operate…….
