After well over a year at the pushing of several of my storm chaser friends I have finally decided to enter the blogosphere. I resisted for so long, primarily because I tend to fire off my thoughts first and think about what I should have said later. Sometimes this has the effect of upsetting some people, particularly in the storm chasing community.

I finally decided that I am just going to be me, and if that means I ruffled a few feathers, it probably just means I made them think about something they didn’t want to.

So here, it is. I can’t be sure what will show up here from time to time. Definitely be blogging about storm chasing stuff, and other interesting things in the world of severe weather. Perhaps some commentary and whatnot. We’ll see. I’ll probably use this as I FINALLY get this site redevelopment finished. I have some cool stuff planned. At one time, this was one of the most comprehensive sites on the Internet about storm chasing. I let that slip away in my own laziness….perhaps I will bring it back better than ever? Who knows.

I’ll leave the comments open to all and unmoderated for now. If abuse starts to happen, I will probably put some sort of moderation on them. I have no issues posting opposing, well thought out viewpoints on something I posted. However, this is my yard and won’t tolerate those that want to trash it up. I no longer allow time in my life for haters and bashers, so if that’s your goal, go play somewhere else. :)

EDIT: I did add first post moderation and multiple link moderations. First post mod just means that the first time you post with that email address it will be moderated. Any time after that it’s goes right through. The link moderation is just spam prevention. Posting more than 2 links the comment goes into moderation.

  1. Well, it’s about friggin’ time! LOL!!

  2. Kanani says:

Finally more entertainment for me!! :o )

  3. David says:

Well heck, if I had known you wanted entertainment I could have done a table dance in bikini underwear on YouTube for you. Ok, well maybe not!

I got some cool stuff planned for the site once I get all the old content and chase accounts back in. I am sorta dreading that, but it’s gotta be done. (and no bikini underwear videos I promise!)

  4. Dewdrop says:

Glad you revoked the bikini underwear comment… sheesh. I am excited about your blog… yet another blog to check daily. I was running low… lol Thanks for the link. :-) Can’t wait to see where you go with your site, such a mystery!

  5. Stacey says:

Oh come on I want to see the TABLE DANCE in A SPEEDO!!!!!!!

  6. I’ll pay ya money NOT to do the speedo table dance. LOL!! Is this some sort of new chaser dance? ;-)

  7. David says:

Hmmm, now I wonder who would bid more…Stacey for it, or Steve to stop it. I may have found a new way to extort some chase gas money! LOL

  8. Dewdrop says:

I’ll match Steve’s money… I think the chaser dance market is oversaturated. Plus, I couldn’t risk Mini-Dew accidentally witnessing such a thing.

  9. Hmmm, I don’t blame you Dew. However, maybe David could apply for a “Poolboy”. LOL!! David, can you make mudslides? I hear that there is quite a demand in the Georgia market. You could name your price. ;-)

  10. Dewdrop says:

Wow, Steve, you’re actually soliciting Poolboys for me…?! Awesome! David, if you can make mudslides, you’re a shoe in… ;-) Definite high demand, unfortunately… the Dewvoid is a weather destroyer, much worse than the Stevoid, I’m afraid. Wait a minute… I have to PAY?!!! Sheesh… no volunteers? :-)

  11. David says:

Couple dozen Allsups Burritos….mudslide here we come. (or at least a wet microburst or dangerous rear flank downdraft.)

  12. Stacey says:

I am willing to get ya a chicken fried steak. Those Allsups Burritos are nasty.

Hmm maybe I should invest in a pool… would that get ya down this way

  13. David says:

Stacey, you know generally if I am coming to Central TX that probably means some bad news (tornadoes) for the folks living there. (BTW, the burritos are only nasty if you don’t get them fresh made.)

You think Steve and Dew can scare off storms, just let me get on a speedo. The 2006 drought was nothing compared to what would happen! LOL

  14. dm says:

I couldn’t remember if Allsup burritos were good or bad while I was in Texas, but I stopped in one in Henderson? Or somewhere south of Dallas, and asked them about them. She said, “Well, a lot of people buy them.” LOL.

I just remembered everyone talked about them. Glad I didn’t buy one! Nice blog, Drummond, now update it more than once a year!

  15. David says:

That’s the trick, either get them after they just cooked them, or ask them to make fresh (they usually will). Pretty darn good then.

I am actually working on new stuff for the site RIGHT NOW! hard as it is to believe.

  16. Michael Amato says:

I enjoy reading weather related blogs. I have storm chased in the past in Connecticut where I live. Over the years my friends and I have chased down a fairly strong but decaying tornado, a small well developed tornado and a rope waterspout. I look forward to your future blogs.

  17. David says:

That’s awesome Michael! Good to have you around! When I am chasing I’ll probably do some updates from the field, but most interesting I think will be the vlogs or video blogs. The poll on the main page so far is unanimous for having these. Most likely I will post them on YouTube and embed them in the blog here. I’ll probably start the video ones for the 2008 season (which really isn’t that far off already!).

  18. Stacey says:

Yes I know you coming here is usually BAD News But I do look forward to you warning me on the email. I dont have much time to watch the news anymore. Work 40 hours a week, raise 3 Kids and a wife… Who has time for the news. I do have emergency messages sent to my cell.. which is ok but doesnt tell where its at just the county. We had more this past year close by then we have ever had since I have been here. Many a nervous nights.. No elec.. etc.. you know the senario. Anyways sight looks great and the blog is cool. Look forward to seeing new video.

    Stacey
